As Ortho Sales Area Manager Center Italy, you will lead our orthopaedics growth across the Central Italy territory, with a base in within the region. You will be the face of Smith+Nephew for surgeons, hospitals and partners, combining strategic thinking with a very hands on field presence. This is an opportunity to build and coach a high performing sales team, shape the customer experience and leave a real legacy for patients in your area.
What will you be doing?
In this role you will spend most of your time in the field, side by side with your team and customers across Central Italy. You will translate national strategy into a clear area plan, prepare and monitor the annual budget, and guide your team to deliver sustainable, profitable growth. You will build strong long term relationships with key opinion leaders and decision makers, ensuring that Smith+Nephew solutions are front of mind when treatment choices are made.
Working closely with colleagues in Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Tender Office and Medical Education, you will bring plans to life and ensure that every case runs smoothly for our customers and their patients. You will also take time away from the field to review performance, run internal meetings and continuously develop your people, so that the whole area team grows together.
What will you need to be successful?
Success in this role starts with a real passion for orthopaedics and a belief in the value that a motivated sales team can bring to surgeons and patients. You will be comfortable taking ownership for the results of your area and you will enjoy being out with customers and your team for most of your week.
To thrive, you will bring:
A degree level education and strong experience in the medical device and orthopaedics market, ideally around eight years in the orthopaedics market.
Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to recruit, train, motivate and evaluate sales representatives and agencies so that they form a strong, cohesive team.
A track record of delivering sales and profit objectives, managing area profitability and warehouse costs, and building trusted relationships with key customers and key opinion leaders.
Fluent English communication, strong influencing and collaboration skills, a valid driving licence and the flexibility to travel extensively, with around seventy per cent of your time on the road in your area.
